How to Check Your Computer for Memory (RAM) Problems

Got weird errors and file corruption? Traditionally, that problem meant your computer’s RAM was going bad, and so it’s time for a memory check. Whether that’s still true anymore is up for debate, but here’s how to use the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to scan for problems.
Just open up the Start Screen or Start Menu and type in “Memory”, or you can head into Control Panel and search for the tool. You can either restart right away, or choose to restart the next time you start the PC. Either way, you’ll see something like the following screen.
