Install Hyper-V on Windows 2008 R2

Hyper V can be Installed only on Windows 2008 64 bit Processor  and cannot be installed on Windows 2008 32 Bit Processor.

Go to the BIOS settings by rebooting the server and continuously hitting the F2 key . In the BIOS settings Set the Execute Disable to On . Set the Visualization to On and  VT for Direct I/O Access to On.
Go to Start => Administrative Tools => Server Manager => Click Roles , Add Roles , Select Hyper-V and Click Next to Install Hyper-V

Now you would need to create Virtual machines on the Server which you have installed hyper V . Goto start => Hyper-V Manager , Right Click on the Computer Name or Host Name  => New => Virtual Machine , click Next to create a Virtual Machine with a custom Configuration . Type the Name of the Virtual Private Server , click Next , Specify the Amount of Memory to be allocated to the Virtual Machine . Select the Network Adapter , Click Next , Select Create a Virtual Hard Disk , Enter the size to be allocated to the  Hard drive , click Next Select Install an operating system from a boot CD / DVD ROM , Select the path of Image file , click next and Installation of Operating System will start , click Finish. Once the Hyper-V Virtual Private Server is created , you can assign the IPs to the server so that you can access the VM’s Remotely.

Block a Particular IP From Accessing Your Website in IIS 7.0

First from the Role services in Server Manager you would need to Install IP and Domain Restrictions option under the Security . Below is the Image

Once It is installed . Open IIS manager , double click the website which you want to block for a particular IP or range of IP addresses. Double click IP and domain Name Restrictions , click Add deny entry , type in the specific IP address or the range of IP addresses and click  OK.

How to Secure a Windows Server( 2003 or 2008)

You  Can follow the Steps in Order to secure your Windows Server In case the Data Is Critical
1) First Of all regularly apply Windows updates whenever updates  are published . You can set updates to to run at a particular time





2)  Block RDP access to all the IPs and only keep your IP to be able to access RDP . You can do this to through IP Sec policies. You can set the first rule to allow your IP to access port 3389 and set other rule to deny all the IPs to port 3389 . Make Sure the IP provided to you by your ISP is a Static IP otherwise you will block yourself .
3) Change the RDP port of the server to any other value other than 3389 such as 55057 or any other value hard to guess .
4) Install the Server with latest antivirus and set proper rules .
5) Reboot the server once a month .
